Thanks for this valuable learning experience!
Thanks Vivek for super awesome podcast :
Posting my learnings from this podcast :
1) Fix Allocation – Sound sleep is important
2) Be prepared and have a process in place – Add buy and sell strategy. Start with 0.5 allocation and average up. Always have a exit strategy in place.
3) Build portfolio around the process
4) Risk Management should be in place that’s a must. Segregate based on sector, Cap level etc. Even before we think about returns we should think about Risk Management.
5) Core Portfolio should be allowed to compound. Only reason to sell should be if market is not falling and individual stock is falling. Core portfolio should be selected based on 45% analysis and 4 cyclinder model analysis.
6) Satellite portfolio – Playing optionality could be Cyclicals or trying out new ideas etc.. This portfolio can be sold when market cap happens. We will have cash in hand which can be deployed on market wide fall.
7) It’s wise to rotate portfolio – Ride winners and cut losers. Basically find pockets of winners.

My learnings from this podcast –
1 – Determine appropriate allocation for portfolio. This may sound easy but it is the most important thing when markets are falling.
2 – Don’t react. Be prepared. Everything else will fall in place.
3- Have a defined process for portfolio or investment and build a solid portfolio based on it.
4- Have a defined criteria for risk management with respect to sector, market cap etc. Risk management should be the first priority.
5- Never stop compounding. Exit only if your exit criteria is met and not because of reaction to market fall.
6- Know when to hold and when to fold. Use Core and Satellite portfolio management.
7- Mindset. Do your homework which is more important during the market falls. Stay positive. Find pockets of strength.
Listened again for action to be done during the market downtrend. Every time I learn about some new activity I can do. This time understood that your can prepare a watch list for the satellite portfolio.
